New Skincare & Makeup Buys in April

New Skincare & Makeup Buys in April
New Skincare & Makeup Buys in April
April starts with some purchases; of things that have been sitting on my wishlist and things that I bought out of necessities. It left quiet a dent in my bank account but considering 3 of them are something that I will get sooner and later, and I was presented with chance to buy them with lower prices, I regret none of it.

Laneige Essential Balancing Emulsion; this is the new version of my holy grail moisturizer that I've mentioned in my latest empty post. It's simply impossible for me to  live without it at the moment with how many acne scars I have, I need to get rid of them fast and I don't feel like going in another trial-error with new products just for the sake of trying new product.

Laneige Essential Power Skin Refiner Light; is the toner from the same series with the moisturizer. This has been sitting on the back of my wishlist for so long, but for some reason, they're always out of stock in my country. My aunt went to Korea two weeks ago, and I managed to get my hand on this thanks to her help, it costed less than if I bought it locally, so I couldn't resist.

Laneige Clear C Peeling Mask; another thing in my wishlist is this peeling mask. I heard great things about Clear C range and its ability to bring brightness back to the skin. Out of all products they have in range, this peeling mask interests me the most. I haven't tried any peeling products before, so I thought I'd give this a chance. It has strawberry seeds that's supposed to help removing dead skin cells easily without being too abrasive.

Zoeva Caramel Melange Palette; I've been lusting over this palette for so long since it's release but they're always out of stock. When they're back online, I didn't think and just went straight to purchase it. This palette consist of 10 colors with equal amount of matte, shimmer. I can tell that Liquid Center is gonna be my favorite color.

April Makeup Menu

We're back with another installment of monthly makeup menu. April is gonna be a busy month for me and as much as I want to keep everything simple, I want to add pop of pink on to liven up my ashen complexion (hello, insomnia and sleepless night) and brighten up my mood.

The good coverage base; starting with foundation from Bobbi Brown which is the heaviest coverage base I have at the moment. This foundation feels incredibly lightweight and undetectable on the skin, it evens up my skin tone as well. The constant lack of sleep has me going back to Creamy Concealer from the same brand, nothing covers them better than this little pot of peachy-toned concleaer.

After patting Maybelline Fit Me powder to lock the base, I apply deliberate amount of Jill Stuart blush on the cheeks and swipe Burberry eye color in gold pearl along my cheekbones to further perk up my complexion.

Pink on The Eyes; on contrary to last month, I'm being creative with my eye makeup my incorporating some pink & red on the lids. Jill Stuart quad has this stunning pink with finely mild shimmer that's surprisingly pigmented. I pair it up with the chocolates from the same quad, but when I feel daring, I pulled out The Saem red eyeshadow for a touch of stark red on the outer corner.

Little Details; my love affair with eyeliner continues, especially after I bought one from local brand PAC. This black eyeliner is really easy to apply with its fine nib, but my only gripe is that this takes longer to dry. Jill Stuart brow mascara has been my go to eyebrow product lately after I run out of my Bobbi Brown's one. The formula is on the wet side, but it shapes my eyebrows lately with minimum effort. On the lips, I want to keep it simple with swipe of pink lip pencil under whatever choice of lipstick I make that day.

High End Skincare Wishlist

High End Skincare wishlist.
High End Skincare wishlist.
Stepping up my skincare game was my beauty goal in 2016. Now I've found the one formula that's perfect for my blemish-prone, oily skin, I feel like venturing into different brands and different types of skincare. There're so many lovely brands mentioned in my favorite blogs, and here a couple that have intrigued me most. Many of them are facial oils, because they do wonder in working through skins to improve its condition plus adding extra moisture and glow.

Product Empties #03

Recent product empties
Kiehl’s ultra facial oil free toner | no repurchase; I love Kiehl’s, I really do. I had high expectation when I bought but this toner didn’t do anything special. It doesn’t mean this is bad toner per se; it was fine but nothing spectacular and didn’t give me that refreshing feeling that I love to feel whenever I’m whipping my face with well-toned cotton pads.

The Body Shop British Rose Shower Gel | Repurchase; oh, I love this shower gel. It smells a lot better than TBS’ previous atlas rose shower gel; lighter and uplifting, also it makes my skin silky soft afterward, definitely repurchasing this.

Majolica Majorca Lash Aesthetic mascara | Maybe repurchase; as an avid Majolica Majorca fan, their mascara will always have special place in my heart. It thickens as well as elongates my short lases, it’s waterproof and easy to remove as well. Definitely ticked the boxes to be favorite mascara.

Shiseido Perfect Whip | REPURCHASE; I think I’ve mentioned this cleanser a hundred of times already, so I’ll just summarize it as the best cleanser ever existed in the planet. I think this is my 8th or maybe even 10th bottle already, I love it that much that I’ve ordered another.

Jill Stuart Fruit & Aroma Mist Refresh Oil Control | No repurchase; this facial mist smells of heavenly fruits, a dash of mint, and Jill Stuart’s signature rose. During hot, sweltering days, this is such a life saver, especially since it also has mattifying effect. If this wasn’t a limited edition product, I’d repurchase it.

Bare Minerals Mineral Veil | No repurchase; this loose powder was very hyped around the time I started blogging, and I think still until today. I just don’t find anything special from this loose powder, even Maybelline Fit me does better job at keeping my makeup from slipping and setting my makeup. Maybe my skin simply didn’t get along with it.

Max Factor Primer | Maybe repurchase; I’ve sung my praise for this primer from heaven and back already. This smoothing primer not only plump up my face and cancels some redness, but also adds a natural glow to my skin, making my makeup application easier without striping it from glow. It’s sad to part with it, but I won’t be repurchasing it for now in trial of other primer.

Beyond Alice in Wonderland Handcream | No repurchase; this lovely almond-scented hand cream is now sitting pretty on my vanity as decoration. As a hand cream, this did pretty well job at keeping my hand smooth, but nothing stellar from moisturizing part.

Laneige White Balance Emulstion Light | Repurchase; I finally relented and bought another bottle of this emulsion. Nothing had helped vanishing my blemish scar as fast as when I combined this with Kiehl’s blemish clearing cream, and with my recent breakout, repurchase of this became an obligation.

Looking forward in April

Tell me; what are you looking forward to this April?
Tell me; what are you looking forward to this April?
1. Red and pink eyeshadows; I’m ready to pull reddish-pink eyes throughout the month. Though many people avoid putting red on the eyes in fear of looking swollen, with the right color combination with your skin tone, I think you can do a great red eyeshadow look. This one from Denitslava will always be my favorite.

2. Pink manicures; I’ll be adding touch of pinks to my nails as well. My love for Jill Stuart polishes have been well documented in this blog, of course I’m gonna pull them back again this season.

3. Favorite singer’s birthday and new musics; with Jonghyun’s birthday around the corner, I will be dedicating my playlist for him this month. He’s a truly versatile artist that can pull EDM like Moon then tugged my heart string with this heart-wrenching melody of Skeleton Flower.

4. Season greeting’s arrival; as mentioned in previous post, I ordered season greeting from BANANA FISH and it’s supposed to arrive around mid-April, I’m excited already for their stunning photographs!

5. Eat healthier; I’ve been back to eating salads and skipping huge lunch lately, I need to tone down my night-time bread as well. I’m thinking of skipping white bread with fruits, adding some nuts, and yogurt for milk.

6. Picking up floral scent; I was gifted My Burberry perfume last year but I still haven’t touched it at all. This month, I’ll make more use of this modern take of Burberry’s fragrances.

7. Decorating my room; after the arrival new furniture last month, I’m thinking of upgrading my room. I’ve started from hanging collage strings above my bed, ordering a new chair (white gregor from IKEA), new bedding, and wire board for my table.

8. Reunion with old friend; a lovely, dear friend of mine is finally back to the country. I’m planning to pick her up at airport and spend a couple of days with her, we have so many to catch up with.

Best of March

1. New furniture; me and mom visited IKEA last February and we ordered new furniture. I’ve been pretty much using the same bed and wardrobe since my 2nd year of elementary school, so we figured it’s time for a change. Both of the bed and wardrobe are from Brimnes series. The bed has 4 storages under the bed which I’ve been dreaming since forever, and the wardrobe is smaller than my previous one but I think it’s perfect size so I can always be reminded not to be frivolous with my clothes spending.

2. New friends: I made new friends this March, they’re bunch of lovely peoples that I met through the internet, and I can’t help but feel this is how friendship is made nowadays instead of meeting new people in actual place (or I’m just that hermit and people still do make friends the proper way).

3. Exercise: I start attending gym again regularly this month, 30 minutes of treadmill really helps making my sleep easier and less guilt when I’m consuming some decadent treats from starbucks (their new blueberry cheesecake is heavenly).

4. Season greetings; making calendar purchase at the time of this year is pretty late, but who am I to resist when my favorite photographer released one? Although I’m more into still life photography, BANANA FISH photographs never fail to amaze me so when she announced reprinting of her calendar, I just had to do it.

5. New blush and eyeshadow; adding more to the pink theme that I want to maintain throughout spring, I bought a red eyeshadow and peach colored blusher from Korean brand The Saem. I was surprised with how pigmented and long lasting the eyeshadow is, definitely exceeded my expectation.

Think Pink in Spring

There is no better way to welcome the vivacious season than with romantic hues of bright pink and pastel in your makeup routines.

There is no better way to welcome the vivacious season than with romantic hues of bright pink and pastel in your makeup routines.
Spring is just around the corner with its lush, vibrant of blooms and pale blue sky. There is no better way to welcome the vivacious season than with romantic hues of bright pink and pastel in your makeup routines.

As I’ve mentioned in my March makeup menu, I’ve been helplessly in love with Paul & Joe’s perfecting foundation primer, it gives ethereal glow to my skin and toning down the redness (my skin is currently on purge for acne treatment). After adding base product of choice, a dusting of shimmery pink blush will further freshen up your face with illusion of blooming roses or pink peonies.

I’m taking the pink into my eyes as well. Many stunning pink eyeshadows are available in the market, but my favorite will always be this quad from Jill Stuart. Pop of vibrant candy pink in the center and inner corner, plus fluttery lashes courtesy of Maybelline Lash Sensational makes me look so much more awake.

You cannot have too much pink, they said. Rimmel Kate Moss do incredible red and nude lips, but in pink area, their #05 is an incredibly beautiful true pink lipstick with creamy texture and a touch of glossiness. Lastly, Burberry is bringing spring with a hint of autumn in their My Burberry perfume. With sweet peas and citruses on top, and roses as base notes, this perfume will make liven up your spring day.

High End Beauty Wishlist

It's time to indulge ourselves by creating high end beauty wishlist.
It's time to indulge ourselves by creating high end beauty wishlist.
It's time to indulge ourselves by creating high end beauty wishlist.
I’m back to that phase of watching too many youtube videos which resulted in craving for high end beauty products (particularly these two from Fleur de Force and Alix of I Covet thee). Since I just had a major huge splurge (that would be revealed later this month), I cannot buy any of these soon, but here are high end beauty products that I wish I could afford somewhere later this year.

Burberry; regular reader must be familiar enough with my love for Burberry. It’s a brand that I universally love across all lines, and their beauty lines included. I’ve only tried a small number of them but each of them are so dear to me. This year I’m thinking of getting either their blush in cameo or their fluid glow in gold.

NARS; even though Nars is notorious for their blushes, I find myself drawn more to their eye products, particularly their duo in Isolde and eyeshadow primers, both are influenced by lovely Sally of The Makeup Directory, for I heard they perform incredibly well on oily lids.

It's time to indulge ourselves by creating high end beauty wishlist.
Charlotte Tilbury; after changing my opinion of them, I’m willing to give CT a little more love. Their eyeshadow quad has always been the talk of town, vintage vamp captivated my heart the most with their burgundy tones and glittery golds.

Urban Decay; UD just become available locally last year so they become more accessible, which means I can sample them first before trying. The naked concealer and beach bronzer are already in my wishlist since 2016, I’m just waiting for the right moment to get them.

Jo Malone; is perfume considered a beauty product? I hope it is. Recently I just became smitten with Jo Malone’s Wood sage and sea salt cologne. It’s not the scent that I thought I’d love, but I was pleasantly surprised with how much I adore it.

Skincare Routine for Oily, Blemished Skin

Having oily & acne-prone skin means having a lot of skin woes and concerns. There are so many things that can trigger our breakout from food and skincare, or even skipping a good face wash after a long tiring day. My skin is far from perfect, but here are things that I do to maintain my oily skin that breaks out quiet easily as well with the highly-polluted environment where I live.

Double cleanse; going home at 10 pm every day doesn’t stop me from double cleansing. While some people find this routine tasking, and can be stripping for dry skin, this is a must for me because even little dirt can clog my pore and trigger pimple the next day.

Toner; for some people, toner is a product they can easily leave out from their skincare routine, but for me, it is an absolute must. Good toner do not only remove some dirt residue from our skin, but also refine our skin condition, balancing its PH, and prepares it so skin can drink up the product well and effectively.

Having oily & acne-prone skin means having a lot of skin woes and concerns. Here are things that I do to maintain my oily skin.
Blemish clearing product; rather than trying to stop them from appearing, I choose to focus on after-care treatment that helps getting rid of acne-scar or blemishes. Kiehl’s Blemish Control Daily Skin treatment is silky white liquid that does wonder in clearing out my acne scars. If you want to focus on prevention, the infamous La Roche Posay Effaclar is good place to start.

Clay Mask; clays is known for its ability to absorb dirt out from the skin, and is good friend for us with big pores. I live in pollution prone area and my face is exposed to dirt and car’s smokes every day. I slather clay mask at least twice in a week to get rid of impurities and all those evil bacterias.

Do not skip moisturizer; I’m sure you’ve heard it so many times before but do.not.skip.on.moisturizer! Many oily-skin friendly moisturizer is available on the market now, find the one that works the best for you to keep your skin from becoming dehydrated and produced more oil instead from its thirst.

5 Disappointing Products

If they have their ‘hits’, every brands must have their misses as well. Here are 5 beauty products that disappointed me.
If they have their ‘hits’, every brands must have their misses as well. I think every can relate with having this one brand they love so much, but one day, one of their product failed to meet the expectation. Bad apples, they said. But not in any way these bad apples totally ruined my impression about a certain brand for I know each brand have their own ‘ace product’, and maybe I just happened to pick their less than stellar product. Here are 5 beauty products that disappointed me.

Laneige White Plus Renew Skin Refiner; Laneige is one brand that always impress me with their skincare so when I picked this up, I had high expectation, especially after how their Light Balancing Emulsion played a big role in getting rid of my acne scaring. However, this emulsion literally had no effect on my skin at all in a sense it didn’t deliver what it claimed to do; brightening up my skin. For something that’s priced higher compared to their other refiner, i don’t think this one worth the money.

Jill Stuart Ribbon Couture Eyes in Indigo Tweed; Jill Stuart jeweling eyes is such a stunner that I had high expectation when picking up this palette, especially with its swoon worthy color. Sadly, the formula is so lack-cluster. Other than the weak pigmentation, it’s almost impossible to work this eyeshadow for it always disappears upon blending. At least, like any other Jill Stuart product, this one is gorgeously packaged, so it is forgiven(?).

Bobbi Brown Spot Treatment Concealer; Bobbi Brown is the brand that lured me into the world of beauty, so my trust to them is also blind. This is one of the first products I tried for them, and I always wanted to make this work, but sadly, it just didn’t. This gotta be one of the most drying concealers I’ve ever tried; it flaked unflatteringly and emphasized the blemishes instead.

Chanel Le Vernis; now before you raised your eyebrows high because I did mention  this nail polish as my favorite last year, I’m not going to refute my claim, but I still do think that for its price, this polish can do better. Maybe it’s the thin formula, but I found this polish always bubble? up weirdly on first layer and I have to apply another coat to make it spread evenly. I do not have this problem with Jill Stuart polish which costs half of this (and packed even more elaborately).

Benefit Porefessional; with my big pores, porefessional is one of those highly coveted product that I want to try. Sadly, I fall into that category of people who got break out from this, and while this work well for other people, it didn’t make my face condition any better.

Make Your Own Green Tea Latte

Make your own green tea latte at home
As a huge green tea enthusiast, green tea latte or maccha latte is a huge thing for me. I need my green tea latte, or any green tea offering in that matter, to still retain that deep and rich bitterness of green tea instead of being too milky and barely taste of green tea powder at all. Starbucks still has my favorite green tea latte now that I’m no longer in Japan where everyone know exactly how I’d like my latte to be, but sometimes when I’m at home and craving for some green tea latter, I like to make my own latte. I got this recipe from just one cookbook which has another amazing Japanese food recipe on her site.

250 mL milk | 1 tbs hot water | 1 ½ tsp green tea powder (or to your liking, I use 1 tbs) |1 tsp sugar

1. Sift green tea powder to get rid of lumps then mix them with hot water , stir until smooth in the cup you’re intended to use later.

2. On saucepan, heat your milk and sugar over medium heat until small bubbles start appearing. Turn off the heat. If you have frother, you can froth it at this stage, seeing as I do not, I don’t, and it’s okay, the latte still taste amazing.

3. Pour the hot milk into the cup with green tea paste. I like to stir them together before sprinkling some more green tea powder. If it’s too bitter, you’re free to add sugar to your liking. Sip them while they’re hot.

March Makeup Menu

My March Makeup Menu includes perfect base, perky pink cheeks, classic eyes, and a touch of matte lipstick on top of glowing skin.
My March Makeup Menu includes perfect base, perky pink cheeks, classic eyes, and a touch of matte lipstick on top of glowing skin.
As the rest of the world is getting ready for warm, vivacious spring, I see lots of bloggers are starting to reshuffle their makeup menu. Though I do not experience the season change myself, I’ve been making some changes in my makeup lately; focusing on the base and keeping the rest pretty simple. Here I’m sharing my latest routine.

The perfect base; I’m up in my base makeup game lately. I start by patting in Sunscreen from Innisfree, then prep my face with this lovely primer which is the most recent addition to my makeup stash from Paul & Joe, this primer is one of the best selling primer in Japan and I can see why; it gives my skin ethereal glow even better than Max Factor’s offering, plus it’s thin consistency makes this super easy to blend and a little goes a long way.

On top of the primer, I  apply Nars Velvet Matt Skin tint and Maybelline Fit Me Powder. While it sounds scary to pile to matte products together, the primer underneath helps maintaining the healthy glow on my skin.

Flushed Cheeks; On the cheeks I’ve been loving Jill Stuart Blush, the perky peachy pink blush with fine golden shimmer really brightens my whole complexion. I like to use the lightest color as highlighter on my cheekbones, tip of my nose, and cupid bow using my ring finger.

Simple Eyes; For a year I swore myself off from eyeliner because I thought my eyes are already big enough between them. However, I’ve been rekindling my love for them lately, I’m nowhere fancy with my eyeliner so it only goes as far as tight-lining them but when I ‘m feeling fancy, I do a simple cat-eyes. To make my eyes look even awake, I’m still pretty much in love with Maybelline Lash Sensational.

On The Lips; Remember when I said I didn’t like Charlotte Tilbury Lipstick? Yeah, that day is long gone. I know the season is over but I personally think there is no rules when it comes to beauty. I’ve been whipping Glastonberry a lot lately, instead of swiping them, I Just dab them gently on lips for understated, dark-berry lips.

Looking forward in March

5 Things that I'm Looking forward in March
1. Working out; I'm back to exercising this month, hopefully can snatch at least a 30 mins on treadmill thrice a week
2. Getting side projects; I got a couple of small side projects last month from a friend. This month, it will be on bigger scale and even if it means less time to sleep (since I'm also working full-time), it's nice to know I'm helping.
3. Starting non-beauty related blog posts; while I love beauty products, I want to expand my writing a little to something else that I'm also interested in. Watch out for a simple recipe every month ;)
4. Swap coffee for tea; in span of two months, I've been functioning with a grande-sized caffeine and average 3 hours of sleep everyday, which isn't doing good for my health at all. While I don't think I can truly part from coffee, I think switching it with tea can do me some good.
5. Trying out this new Paul & Joe foundation primer that promises your skin an inner glow.

Best of February

10 Best things in February
1. Birthdays; there are 4 birthdays and 1 anniversary in February, so there were dinner or lunch every now and then. It’s a good way to spend quality times with your loved ones.
2. Wishlist; I popped up the wishlist widget on my sidebar this month. To be honest, it’s not 100% fixed, there might be a change here and there, but I hope it can help me keeping on track with my spending
3. Decorating my room; I had some storages haul earlier this month with my mom. Now I finally have proper basket for my hair styling products, and emptied a shelf by storing my books away. Less clutter is always better!
4. Creative writings; I have a creative writing outlet somewhere in the internet, and I've been crunching up words after words this month. I think I wrote up to 50k words this month alone.
5. Trying new products; I didn't use the things I bought in Korea until this month began, and so far, they've been doing well, I will come later with proper review/impressions
6. Using up old products; FINALLY; some bottles and tubes have been emptied this month! I think it's time for another round of 'product empties'
7. Planoly; social media planner apps are something I couldn't try before due to my phone's limitation, but this month, I started using Planoly for my instagram. It makes posting everyday such a breeze to do with the schedule function.
8. Picking up reading; I'm guilty as charged when it comes to reading. I bought Quiet by Susan Cain last year but never got around read it. I'm planning to finish it this March.
9. Slow morning; due to work related reason, I suspend my gym membership this month. While it means lack of exercise, it also means more time to enjoy rainy morning of February while sipping on ice coffee and interacting with the lovely baristas before facing my high-paced day.
10. New photo props; I started investing on some photo props more seriously this year. If in 2016, I'm stuck with hair pins (which will still make appearance since they're so lovely), I've been getting some other pieces which you'll hopefully see next month in my photographs.

5 Helpful Organizing Tools for Blogger

5 Helpful Organizing Tools for Blogger
When I started blogging, there was no organizing involved at all. This resulted in many wasted ideas that cannot be done just because I left it in the corner of my head. I started editorial calendar last summer, and it did such dramatic change to my blogging process; I feel like I’m more in my control of my blog. Here are a couple of helpful tools I use to organize my blog.

Editorial Calendar | ASANA
5 Helpful Organizing Tools for Blogger
My first editorial calendar was in excel spreadsheet which was simple and fuss-free. But as visual-driven person, I want even something as trivial as editorial calendar to be pleasing to the eyes. Asana was introduced to me at work, and last December, I tried importing my editorial calendar to it. It gives me more freedom and flexibility to work, plus enables me to go into details without making my calendar messy or too cluttered. Below is my January calendar and despite how empty it looks like, when you click on every single task, I have all things such as what products to photograph, and post structure, written out. They also allow you to tick off tasks that you’ve done, which is a marmite thing, but if you’re lover of to do list like me, it gives you immense pleasure.

To do List | Rifle Paper & Co
I’m a Riffle Paper & Co convert, thanks to how many bloggers are in love with this dainty-looking stationery brands. Their Let’s Do This! Notepad is, like their other products, made from high quality paper that doesn’t bleed even if I use color gel pens, and makes writing enjoyable. Plus, it comes with box to check once you’re done with your task. I usually mix tasks that I write here with non-blogging things (cleaning up room, groom brows, use clay mask, etc), and only write the task outline; photographs for 2 post, check bloglovin, reply comments, to keep things simple.

Weekly to do List | Rifle Paper & Co
This versatile weekly notepad can be used for everything from planning meals and even outfit. For blogging, I utilize this to write down the details from my previous notepad. It’s practically ASANA but in paper form, of course I leave out some details like post draft that I can store on ASANA. Since I usually blog 2 weeks ahead, the supposed Monday ~ Thursday sections are filled with 4 posts worthy of post outline and photography plans. Friday ~ Weekend is for non-blogging photography plans or blog organizing tasks.

Notebook
Since I leave the 2 notepads at home, I need another tool for just in case situation when I’m hit with idea while I’m out of the house. I might be the only one, but I just cannot write on my phone; it has to be either on my laptop or a book. I envy bloggers who can write draft to their posts while on the move on their gadget, because I always find my head blank when I’m faced with the situation. This beautiful marble notebook is gift from equally beautiful friend, and I really enjoy filling the empty pages with my ideas which is not limited to blogging only, but also my other creative writing outlets.

Journal | Moleskin
I wasn’t big on scheduling or journal until I lived in Japan and everyone, men to women, are using it. In my opinion, Japan has the best journals in the market, and when I came home, I’m faced with difficulties of finding the right journal with the right flexibility and space. In the end, I settled with Moleskin. I love the quality of their paper and the compactness of their journal. I’m currently using 18 months planner Le Petit Prince to plan everything, including blogging. In here, I also try not to include too many details and keep things in bigger picture, but it’s enough marker to show me which day I should/can work on blogging and when I cannot.

5 Favorite Jill Stuart Nail Polishes

5 Favorite Jill Stuart Nail Polishes
If there's any Jill Stuart product I'd recommend to everyone, it's their nail polish. Nail polish is not something that I wear regularly, so despite the tempting call of those beautiful, dainty bottles, I consciously try to keep my collection to minimum. In my effort, I decided to commit myself to only 1 nail polish brand, so I can limit the amount of polishes I have, plus keeping my said ‘nail aesthetic’ to be consistent. I’ve introduced you to Jill Stuart’s Base & Top Coats, so this time I’m going to share you their beautiful nail polishes.

Nail Lacquer | 44 Sweet Actress; Released as part of their 2015 a/w collection, this polish is my take for the classic red nails. Leaning more toward burgundy, deep crimson with cool undertone, I’m surprised it flatters my yellow-tanned skin nicely. The formula, like the other Jill Stuart’s non-pearl polishes, is so easy to work with; it’s creamy, spreads nicely, and gives opaque, glossy finish in one coat.
Nail Lacquer | 04 Pink Drop
I’ve mentioned this polish before over here, and it’s really perfect color for summer nails. Creamy pink, with hint of peach and blue under-tone, this color is mature enough to be worn on formal event. I always receive compliments from my professional peers when I wear this. Pink Drop has the same formulation with the one mentioned above, and they’re such a joy to wear; fuss-free, streak-free, and easy to remove.

Nail Lacquer | 11 Sweet Notes
Sweet Notes is part of their pearl formula. It has fine, silver and gold glitter running through it, and is meant to be sheer or applied on top of other polishes as finishing touch. I love to combine it with Pink Drop to  achieve not only glossy, but festive peachy-pink nails. Formula wise, it’s thinner than the rest, added with its sheerness, it’s perfect when you want understated yet put-together manicure.

Horoscope Nails | Observant Virgo
Jill Stuart released Horoscope Nails series from 2015-2016, and Virgo was the first one released on the line. As a Virgo girl, of course I feel compelled to have it, plus sapphire blue nail polish is something I’ve always hunted high and low for. It’s hard to find the perfect shade of blue; it’s either too green, too grey-blue, or too violet. Virgo gives me the exact shade, so it’s an absolute dream for me. The only gripe I have is the chunky silver glitter. Sure it makes my nails mimic the starry sky perfectly, but they can be frustrating to remove.

Horoscope Nails | Justice Libra
This peachy pink polish with green, silver, and red glitters in it is more forgiving in term of removal than Virgo. Still, both nails are so long-wearing and budge-proof, so it can be a plus as well. I remember there was a moment when I ‘accidentally’ wear them for almost a month and they hardly chipped (not good for your nails, so, don’t do it). When I want sparkly nails but not as bold, I’d go for Justice Libra.

My Seoul Diary #3

Third day in Seoul was my last day since we have to catch up with plane the next morning. Today is quiet jam-packed with visiting many tourists spots in Seoul and the weather was freezing -13, once again, I pulled another stunt of wearing thin clothes, but I survived. Sometimes I don’t understand myself. I’d like to apologize first that due to my low camera battery, I didn’t take much photo that day. We started by visiting King Sejong statue, and then moved to Gyeongbok Palace. Despite the bright sun shining down on us, the snow started fluttering down and it got really cold around then. The snowfall lasted around 20 minutes, and despite the cold, I thoroughly enjoy how the white snow flake danced all around us; just made the experience even more special.
Around 10 AM, we watched the Change of Guard Ceremony (which I recorded in my phone because my camera nearly died). Then we moved in to look around the palace; the queen’s garden, the main hall, despite its beauty, Gyeongbeok Palace has quite a dark history, it was somewhat ‘refreshing’ in a sense, gave it element of surprise.

We went to Itaewon after that because mom wanted to shop for souvenirs. The main path of Itaewon is lined up by stores that sell affordable trinkets you can bring home for your loved ones. I bought a set of nail clippers because despite how marmite it sounds, it’s something that comes in handy when you thought you least needed it. We also had a lunch there. I ate octopus bibimpab which spiciness really helped warming me up. Oh! We bought hot pack there as well, it’s life-saver for surviving through the cold as it keeps you fingers and even toes warm for 8 hours and more.

Myeongdong is our next destination. We took hanbok family photo at Goguan Photo Studio, it’s literally the first place that turned up on search engine if you look for ‘Hanbok Photo’. I had prior booking, and since I can speak Japanese, the female manager attended to me easier. We eventually managed to conclude the photo session safely and left with pictures that’re now hanging on our living room wall. I tried the infamous banana milk as well, it's good but as expected, I'm all for deep, bitter green-tea.

After that, we had our dinner at Yoogane, again, because apparently my parents were smitten with that place. I had to take quick solo journey to Lotte Young Mart because there’re things that I gotta buy for my friends, thankfully I didn’t lost my way and managed to reunite with my family who’s browsing through the makeup stores at Myeongdong. They’re literally everywhere so it’s impossible to miss them, I found that even though different brand have different stores, they offer the same thing with the same deal anyways so just popped in inside the first one you see and go wild. We shopped for food souvenirs here as well, I picked up honey butter almonds and green tea choco pies for friends. In our way back to Subway, I bought myself a warm and toasty egg bread as well.

The last destination was Chonggyechon stream. My camera was pretty much dead by the moment so I recorded it on Instagram. Things that I like to do the most during traveling is spending my time doing nothing, just gazing at scenery, and truthfully, that was what I wanted to do as well, except my parents were tired so I only had around 10 minutes there to take blurry photos and threw coins; hoping that 2017 will bring a better me.

We want back to the hotel, I spent another hour packing (because I love packing), and went to sleep so I can wake up early for morning flight. That concluded my last day in Seoul. You can see some videos I posted while I was there on instagram under tag #tukiseoulstory
